The Hotel
A Victorian villa on the outside with contemporary elegance on the inside, the Clubhouse Hotel is a blend of both old and new luxury. Rooms are individually decorated with colour themes spanning from bold reds to blue tartan prints, and the gardens behind the house retain their hazy, picturesque Victorian charm. International and Mediterranean favourites are sprinkled on the restaurant menu, and the aptly named Sun Lounge serves beverages in a conservatory setting. A more cosy retreat for evening drinks can be enjoyed in front of the open fire in the Lounge Bar, with malt whiskys behind the bar and period features drawing the eye.
Groupon Recommends
The market town itself is now a hubbub for arts and crafts, with many independent shops displaying local work and canvases. Strolling onto the seafront, a handful of quaint bars and cafes can be selected for a spot of afternoon tea, or fresh air hankerers can take a picnic basket to the beach. Into the countryside behind there are golf and shooting clubs to be explored, while the town’s museum casts a line for local history by fishing into fishing’s past.
