Appetisingly placed amid postcard-worthy greenery, Northern Lights delights discerning palates with traditional, home-made Scottish fare embellished by contemporary flourishes. Freshly prepared from locally sourced ingredients by award-winning chef Grant Napier and his team, dishes range from hallowed haggis fritters through to Irn-Bru ice cream. Located in the village of Hatton of Fintray on the River Don, the restaurant also caters for functions ranging from birthday parties and weddings to corporate events.

The Scottish feast may begin with roasted quail drizzled in orange and brandy butter (£5.95), or haggis fritters with crisp salad leaves (£4.45). The parade of flavours may move on to the pan-fried duck breast served pink and dressed in wild berry and vanilla jus (£15.95), the grilled salmon steak topped with lemon butter and teamed with vegetables and potatoes (£12.95), or the roasted bell peppers stuffed with savoury rice and accompanied by a tomato and herb sauce (£7.25).

Reviews

Though yet to be widely reviewed, Northern Lights Bar & Restaurant has received a palatable 4/5 from both Google users and a positive TripAdvisor, who were keen to point out the quality of both the service and the food.

A little taste of heaven within touching distance of the city centre. Fantastic meal, fantastic service highly reccomend [sic].
Returant Critique, Google, Jan 2011

The Cullen Skink was thick with potatoes and very well flavoured of the smoked haddock which there were large chunks of in the bowl [sic]. Not quite as creamy as my favourite but to be fair probably a more authentic recipe. I tried some of the Haggis broth which my wife found excellent and although I'd never tried this before it was very tasty and unusual.
