Towns are often defined by their transport systems, the calibre of their inhabitants, and how brightly they sparkle when viewed from space. Get up to light speed with today’s Groupon: £25 for a three hour night-time walking photography course in Aberdeen with Ritter Photography.

With itchy feet and click-happy fingers, the snappers at Ritter Photography flitter up and down the UK, shooting in studios and on location in a mishmash of artistic ventures. The team dip their toes into the commercial world, immortalising the inanimate as well as getting involved in the fashion scene, and their specialist flair for low light images makes for imposing architectural portraits. Embracing the dusky winter months, leading man Maciej Zalewski aims to share his camera competence with budding shutter bugs, spreading SLR love and painting instant pictures with one twitch of a forefinger.

In a three hour documented adventure, groups of up to eight can embark on a tour of Aberdeen in twilight, romantically wandering with their SLR clickers in hand. Touring local landmarks, students will study the skills of night-time photography, picking up lighting techniques, theories of exposure and aperture, and learning about light speed and curtain flashes. Teams can also practise the basics of light painting, creating waves of colour and contrast with city sparkles and making for ribboned images and a tailor made UFO hoax.
