Groupon Asks Julie Thompson, manager of Wardhaugh Farm Riding Centre about the origins of her school, and what it provides.

G: What's the story behind your riding school?

"I have always had a love of horses, as a child I'd spend all my spare time at the local riding school helping out for free rides. At the age of 12 I got my first pony which I kept until I got married. When my daughter was seven she wanted to start riding, so it was up to the local riding school for lessons and we were back to helping out again. We brought a house with land and stables and before we knew it we had liveries and local children wanting to ride with us."

G: Why should someone give horse riding a try?

"It's great exercise and the bond you make between horse and rider is like nothing else."

G: What facilities are there for more experienced riders?

"Long treks with gallops through woods, tracks, open spaces, great horses and great instructors."

G: Tell us a bit about your horses and ponies...

"We have horses and ponies for all levels. Most of them have great personalities. Some are cheeky like Arrianne, some can be stubborn like Obbie, some are really naughty like Sugar, but all are safe and kids love them to bits."

G: How do your sessions cater for kids?

"We have great leaders for the real beginners, and the instructors will make the lessons fun as well as being informative. Kids really enjoy the pony club sessions on a Saturday afternoon where they work towards badges both in riding and in stable management."
