Tempting tired legs and silencing rumbling bellies since the 17th century, the Grade II listed Benett Arms treats guests to traditional pub hospitality and hearty British dishes. This cosy eatery treats a small selection of food lovers to time-tested oak furnishings, roaring open fires, and an elegant candle-lit dining room. As well as pleasing eyes, the restaurant caters to mouths with a wide range of fine wines, locally-brewed ales, and warming spirits.
Passing the restaurant threshold and stepping into the sepia-toned days of yore, pairings can tickle their taste buds with two courses of traditional British cuisine. Patrons can begin by sinking teeth into a choice of starters including chicken liver pâté (£5.95), and smoked salmon salad (£6.95), clinking to the flavours with a glass of wine or pint of beer each. Even the most discerning of palates will then be pleased with the main event, with options including gammon with pineapple (£8.95), steak and kidney pie (£8.95), and grilled trout with parsley butter (£10.95).
Though still waiting to be widely reviewed by visitors, The Benett Arms was rated an encouraging 4/5 by TripAdvisors and 5/6 by LateRooms.com users. While the majority of reviews are about the accommodation, visitors have been keen to note the warm, friendly atmosphere and the hearty food.
The pub is really quaint, log fire, genuinely nice locals and the occasional dog, makes the evening perfect.

Great pub with excellent welcome, friendly staff, nice sized clean rooms and good pub food. All in a quiet hamlet within reach of Shaftesbury, old Wardour castle and lovely country walks.
