A village farmhouse-style restaurant decked out with exposed brick walls and flagstone flooring, The Black Duck serves up Great British food with Carribean, Asian, and European twists. The menu oozes with locally sourced produce and a selection of home-baked goodies, while Sunday lunches come piled with all the appropriate trimmings. Snuggled opposite the church in the picturesque Somerset village of Wedmore, the eatery offers a cosy spot to warm up after a country stroll, or to simply share a chinwag over an ample wine list.

Pulling up a chair in nibbling teams of two or four, guests can get munching on an afternoon treat of finger sandwiches alongside home-made scones slathered in clotted cream and strawberry or damson jam. Diners can choose from teas including English breakfast, Earl Grey, and rose hip, with extended pinkies at the ready and an accompaniment of a sweet selection of cakes. Buddies can toast to taste with a glass of champagne each, while under 18s can keep it innocent with a non alcoholic cocktail instead.

Reviews

The Black Duck receives a decent 3/5 stars from View Bristol users, and TripAdvisorsoffer a favourable 3.5/5 stars. While some guests encountered a wait during peak times, reviewers are keen to celebrate the varied menu, presentation and taste of food, and welcoming atmosphere.

We visited while on holiday and were very impressed. Excellent flavour combinations and very generous portions too. Friendly owner and good value for money. If we lived nearby, we'd certainly return.
