Life is like a stage, apart from the fact that the curtains aren’t as thick and heartfelt speeches are only occasionally greeted with applause. Put your hands together for today’s Groupon: £7.25 for a ticket to ‘Storytellers in the Round’ at the Millennium Forum.
With its distinctive cylindrical design and marble floored Italian-style Piazza, the Millennium Forum is one of The City of Derry’s most vibrant venues for a varied range of nights out, performances and conferences. One of the largest purpose-built theatres on the island, the centre is a hub of music, comedy and drama, with rib-tickling stand-up events sharing the Forum with musicals and Shakespeare. Classic ballets such as Nutcracker also tread the boards along with fashion shows and wrestling events.
Three singer-songwriters bring a spellbinding evening of guitar-accompanied music and storytelling to the Maiden City. Paul Casey has caused a stir amongst music fans both sides of the Atlantic, gathering enthusiastic fans including superstar Chris Rea, with his distinctive style of singing and his accomplished command of slide guitar. Local girl turned Nashville crooner, Eilidh Patterson brings mature song-writing techniques and a beguiling stage presence to the event. Also on the bill is Anthony Toner, singer of travelling tales accompanied by guitar work.
