This quaint hotel sits on the shores with picnic benches and a garden overlooking the water. The family-run establishment boasts fine food and wine, with fish dishes among their local specialities. The bar is stocked with many a tipple, keeps in touch with complimentary Wi-Fi, and hosts entertainment on the weekends.

Make the most of the flat waters and commandeer a canoe, or make a bigger splash with water-skiing and wakeboarding hire at one of the lake’s many water-sport centres. Have a hop around the lake, with over 154 islets to explore via foot and the odd helping hand by boat in-between. For land based activities there are a few golf and shooting clubs in the area, or saddle up with a riding hack at one of the equestrian centres. The village of Lisbellaw is within walking distance for a country ramble and pub pints.

Carrybridge Hotel receives a favourable 4/5 stars from TripAdvisors. While some guests found the decor old-fashioned, reviewers praise the comfortable rooms, standard of cuisine and level of service.
Second time here having stayed in the hotel previously. Hotel fixtures and fittings may be basic and past their sell by date, but same cannot be said about the staff and the food. On both occasions the staff could not be friendlier or more helpful, cannot recommend them and the food highly enough. Will go back for another feed next time in area.
