Famed for their hard partying, helicopter pilots can often be found doing the rounds at rotory clubs. Get things spinning with today's Groupon from Challenger Helicopters. Choose from the following options:
• £59 for a one-hour flight simulation• £199 for a two-hour flight simulation plus one hour’s flying time in a real helicopter and lunch
Soaring through the sky, Challenger Helicopters offers the chance to chop through virtual aerospace in a state-of-the-art helicopter flight simulator. The expert instructors take potential pilots on flights-of-fancy and fantasy in a simulator that offers up a sky-full of scenarios and flight paths. An adjustable weather system means that storms can be navigated and landmarks spotted, as the simulator engages flyers with a realistic flight experience. With a genuine cockpit, radio controls, feedback and advanced visuals, this simulator is an ideal teaching tool for all potential pilots.
Getting themselves in a spin during an hour-long classroom briefing, budding Biggles will then be allowed to take the controls, hopping into the cockpit for an hour’s worth of whirring wonderment. Taking on their choice of challenge in a Robinson R22 or Bell 222, whirlybird handlers can float over the iconic landmarks of the River Thames, spiral high above the bright lights of Vegas, or assume operational duties on an aircraft carrier. Those in it for the longer-haul flights can enjoy a spot of lunch alongside two hours of exhilarating rotor-spinning, as well as the chance to race around their city from Belfast airport, under the famous Harland and Wolff cranes and back, with the fastest flier winning some bubbly for their efforts. This will be followed by an hour’s ride in an actual helicopter, expertly piloted over the stunning Mourne Mountains, to augment the virtual flying.
