Synopsis
A classic comedy from British icon Willy Russell, Educating Rita explores the educational trials of a Liverpudlian hairdresser with a passion for literature. Taken under the whisky swigging arm of Dr Frank Bryant, she embarks on a scholarly journey, coaxing Frank out of a cynical and disillusioned spiral as she goes. Ladies in Lavender turns the spotlight on sisters Ursula and Janet in a Cornish fishing village in 1937, uncovering their relationship with a violin-playing stranger washed up on the shore, and the impact that he has on their close-knit lives.

About The Event
Adapted from Charles Dance’s successful movie, Ladies in Lavender stars Hayley Mills from ITV’s Wild at Heart and Belinda Lang of 2point4 Children fame, backed up by the original classical Brit Award winning soundtrack. Educating Rita puts stars in the audience's eyes with Olivier Award winning Matthew Kelly as Frank, alongside Brookside’s Claire Sweeney. Filled with chuckles, backhanded politics, and emotional moments, both shows will require ample tissues for restraining giggles, wiping away tears, and covert sneezing.

The Venue
Guests can settle into the 800 seat Festival theatre that has staged musical extravaganzas, drama, and films since 1885. Choosing their favoured show, cultured teams of two or four can opt for a 2.30pm matinee performance on Wednesdays or Saturdays, or an 8pm evening performance throughout the week. The newly refurbished theatre sports a shining new restaurant serving up light bites and ice-cream, while two bars provide ample interval refreshments.
