About The Event
Filling a fine June evening with exuberant rumpapump, the Brian Newton Big Band will run through a classic repertoire from the coronation era. Spectators will gather on the lawns with their picnic seating to listen to the smooth flow of jazz breezing through the air, perhaps stirring from their snacks to cheer a particularly enlivening rendition.

The Venue
Designed in 1829 and nurturing over 7000 different plants, The Birmingham Botanical Gardens has fine specimens that range from a 250-year-old Bonsai tree to a clutch of Himalayan cedars. An explosion of colour during the summer months, the garden paths wind through bowers of rhododendrons and past pools of blooming lilypads, while the glasshouses are home to more exotic plants that require humid environments. The main lawn welcomes picnics in the late afternoons, and the Pavilion Tea Room serves light lunches and indulgent afternoon teas.

Reviews

The Birmingham Botanical Gardens received a thriving 4/5 from both TripAdvisors and Qype users. Visitors were keen to praise the gardens’ variety and central location, and felt they made a great backdrop for a range of events.

I have visited the gardens to see the wonderful plants and colours but also have been here for reception venues, parties and even my prom when I was back in secondary school! It's a great little venue, very clean, well maintained and the services that it offers are great.

This is a good place to escape the big city for a few hours. Greenhouses with ponds, cactii [sic] and citrus trees. A Japanese garden complete with bonsais. A green lawn rolling down to a bandstand. Play areas for children, lots of blooms and bushes not to mention special events artistic, musical and gardening
