Unlike a fear of flying, a fear of frying can result in bad breakfast experiences, lacklustre fritters, and pancakes failing to achieve their dreams of being airborne. Flip over a new leaf with today's Groupon: £49 for a fear of flying course at Ask the Captain.
Having clocked up over 20,000 hours of flight time and 40 years of piloting experience, Ask the Captain’s head honcho, Chris Rigby, draws on his aviation knowledge to address flying phobias. Services span freelance pilot duties, for a sprightlier alternative to public transport, or after dinner speeches that include an informative and entertaining blend of flighty anecdotes and more technical skyriding issues.
In a three and a half hour course with a highly experienced pilot, the sky will be the limit for those looking to get help with aeronautical phobias . Divided into two modules, Captain Rigby will first cover the psychology of fear, including its purpose and how it relates to a fear of flying, before turning to the technical aspects of aircraft and demystifying common bumps and bangs that occur during flight . Courses can be completed at either Birmingham or Coventry airport, with video footage included and questions answered along the way, participants will be shown the breadth of safety precautions taken with a view to altering plane-based perspectives.
