Taking its name from a 19th century battle which took place in Crimea, The Alma Tavern has been serving up home-cooked British food and real ales for the last 150 years.
Ladies and gents will begin with a starter, such as the prawn cocktail with Marie Rose sauce (£4.25); the liver pâté with white bread toast (£3.25); or the Alma Platter to share between two which includes deep fried mushrooms, onion rings and lamb samosas (£9.95). Main meals may come from the evening specials menu which features dishes such as lamb cutlets (£11.95), or from the standard but no less tasty menu, which includes fisherman’s pie with salmon, cod, prawns, and smoked haddock topped with mashed potato and cheddar cheese (£9.95).
