About The Keep Military Museum
Built in 1879, the imposing walls of The Keep Military Museum echo with the rich history of bygone eras, celebrating the valour of local regiments by documenting over three hundred years’ worth of hard-fought battles. With information and exhibits covering early militia through to Napoleonic and modern eras, they also have full virtual galleries involving a range of campaigns from World Wars I and II. The regalia section is bedecked by a glorious array of battle honours and badges, alongside a selection of medals, including the George and Victoria crosses, awarded for the highest level of courage in the face of danger.

Reviews

TripAdvisors have presented The Keep Military Museum with an emphatic 5/5 stars and comment on the breadth of exhibits and attractions, depth of insight and value for money.

I was amazed at how large the museum [is] and the exhibits from the early days of the volunteers right through to current day, including weapons etc. A great section where children can interact and learn by putting on uniforms and trying their hand at playing soldier. As you climb up the winding staircase from level to level, there is a running theme of the war cartoonists and their work. When you make it to the top, and come out onto the roof of the keep, you get a wonderful view of Dorchester ...
