Voted Best Indian Restaurant at the 2010 Oliver Awards, East is hotter than a tandoori clay oven, sizzling under the winning accolades for best starter and best main, as awarded by The Leeds Guide in 2009. With a menu blending the traditional and the contemporary, the chefs have conjured up dishes exclusive to their own restaurant, which have won them their gold-star pats on the back. A fully heated roof terrace attracts punters whatever the weather, while a sumptuous cocktail menu and occasional musical entertainment help to bring a little extra spice to experiences.
The magic carpet menu will take taste buds on a culinary tour of the sub-continent, starting with the likes of the chicken fillets marinated in exotic spices, lime, and garlic (£6.25) or crispy lamb samosas folded with onions, potatoes, and peas (£3.50). As diners reach the main course, gourmand destinations could include the Nassa é Khaas, in which chicken tikka and lamb mince are cooked in brandy with onions, tomatoes, and capsicums (£11.95) or the fish dopiaza dressed with coriander, black pepper, cinnamon, bay leaves, and onions (£8.95). High-flying feasts will be accompanied by a fruit cocktail such a Woo Woo or Cosmopolitan (£4.95), while non-alcoholic tipples include the Virgin Bloody Mary or Gentle Sea Breeze (£3.50).

Reviews
TripAdvisors award East a decent 3.5/5 stars, and Yelpers are also complimentary. While some encountered a wait for their meal, reviewers praise the authentic and varied menu, and personable service. In addition, the eatery won Best Indian at the 2010 Leeds Restaurant Awards.
Visited Monday night after work and was actually quite busy. Service good and food was very nice. Above average Indian with wide range of favourites.

Good atmosphere, great food and lovely surroundings. Piano player in the corner was a nice touch. Very reasonably priced and good selection on menu. This was my second visit this year my last with my young children who enjoyed it too and very child friendly.
