Edge Gyms trains and conditions according to each member’s unique fitness goals.
Groupon finds out about Edge Gyms’ sharp approach to fitness.
G: How did Edge get its start?
It was born as a direct response to mainstream fitness clubs which seemed to offer members a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. In these clubs there is an overabundance of traditional machines while little emphasis is placed on member involvement. Thus, a new type of fitness facility: a multi-functional establishment bridging the gap between traditional health clubs and an advanced training facility, similar to that of professional sport.
G: What is the philosophy behind this type of fitness facility?
Fitness is about being up on your feet, moving in multiple directions, getting stronger in your core and exercising by replicating many activities you encounter in real life. It is about finding what works for you: your goals, personality, your lifestyle and your body type. Edge is designed to offer individual attention.
G: What does the Edge look like from inside?
There are several dedicated areas designed for specialised group training with an Edge conditioning coach. These areas include a space for core and flexibility, functional strength training, suspension training, performance enhancement training and cardiovascular conditioning. There is also an indoor agility and sprint track, another area for performance training packed with lifting platform, free weights, kettlebells and many more fitness toys.
G: Do you have to be a professional athlete to train at Edge?
No, Edge aims to help any type of member achieve their goals. Whether he or she is a beginner, fitness enthusiast or athlete, this gym places an emphasis on introducing new, innovative and enjoyable forms of exercise.
