Currying favour is a tricky enterprise, requiring plenty of charm, a lot of sweet talking, and a generous sprinkling of cumin. Experience the flavour of the month with today’s Groupon: £12 for an Indian meal for two with sides at Ahmed's Curry Cafe.

Sharing the sights and sizzles of sub-continental cooking, Ahmed’s Curry Cafe has been tempting tastebuds for over a decade, its open kitchen filling the air with spicy aromas fresh from the pan. The chefs use slow cooking to infuse flavours, specialise in tandoori and haandi techniques, and occasionally update the restaurant’s vibrant menu with new tastes.

Sumptuous Indian spreads will be made up of a main course each, with choices including the likes of the mild lamb pasanda with almonds and butter (£6.50), the warmer hues of the Goan king prawn curry cooked with cumin, coriander, tamarind, green chillies, and coconut cream (£9.50), or the fiery flavours of the mango chicken seasoned with a touch of garlic and green chillies (£6.95). Meals may be mopped up by a side dish, such as a steaming bowl of pilau rice (£2.15), a garlic naan bread (£1.95), or sheem seed bhajis (£3.50).

Reviews

Ahmed’s Curry Cafe is rated a satiating 3.5/5 on TripAdvisor. Reviewers had mixed feelings about the service in some cases, but generally enjoyed the food.

I have been here many times. Nowhere in Bristol to beat it for superb food at a reasonable price.

Basic premises but tremendous food.
