Historic home of the Celts, Cornwall was named in honour of hosting the original maize maze. Be amazed with today’s Groupon: £99 for a Cornish country cottage for two nights for up to four people with breakfast at Great Trethew Manor.
Cradled by impressive countryside and surrounded by Cornish charm, Great Trethew Manor is a picturesque hotel with a safari-steak stocked restaurant. Lavish, individually decorated bedrooms are spread over the main manor house, and six Cornish holiday cottages offset the DIY stylings of both pro and poorly-pitched tents in the campsite. With Bodmin Moor and the Eden Project as well as tree-lined pony treks and walks, there is a high possibility of running across rare natural sights such as bog orchids, golden plovers, and folk wearing waterproofs.
Up to four people can enjoy two nights in a Cornish country cottage, soaking in the clean air, mining heritage and stunning countryside. A breakfast pack (normally £25) charges batteries for the day ahead, be there walking, fishing, or the strenuous activity of cream tea eating on the itinerary. Guests can upgrade to a five sleeper cottage for both nights for £35 extra, or a six sleeper for £55. Check-in is from 1pm, and checking out should have happened by 11am. Pets are welcome in the cottages, but must be kept on leads in the grounds.
Great Trethew Manor has been reviewed widely, with guests loving the setting and grounds surrounding the hotel. Reviewers have also commented on the uniqueness of the building both inside and out.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants proper, old English hospitality. The whole place felt real, unlike some of these chain hotels with fake themes bought in to mask their absolute lack of atmosphere. Great Trethew Manor, has bags of proper atmosphere and I would stay there again, gladly.

Very friendly and helpful staff in a lovely old building set in beautiful grounds. Food was outstanding as was the welcome of staff and animals.
