It is often said that nature abhors a vacuum because everyone knows it prefers ironing instead. Leave the chores indoors with today’s Groupon: £29 for a one day bushcraft course with lunch at The Cherry Wood Project.
Encouraging revelry in the great outdoors, The Cherry Wood Project hosts alfresco learning aplenty, from woodcraft workshops to tool building sessions, all set among 40 acres of wildlife-filled woodland. Numerous courses and workshops are held within a large tented area, equipped with tools, a level open fire, and an earth oven, as well as a compost toilet facility and wood heated shower, to encourage students to go back to the roots. Whether learning to carve out arrows, build fires, or forage for food, city dwellers can make friends with Mother Nature and sharpen up raw skills.

Kicking off the one day course at 9am, nature loving learners can become at one with the land as they develop nifty survival skills, including fire kindling, water purification, and shelter building to escape the elements and greedy wildlife. Hungry folk will be taught how to seek out and prepare food with skilled knife wielding, before using their newly acquired skills to stoke the fire, cook their lunch, and gobble their discoveries on the spot.
