Bringing a slice of the sub-continent to the county of Cambridgeshire, the charcoal-coloured structure of Café Naz has been rousing the senses with golden-edged samosas, piquant curry sauces, and a sprinkling of exotic herbs since the spicy 1960s.
Appetites will be warmed up with the ever-changing house chef speciality (£7.25) or the sheek kebab with minced lamb marinated in a spicy masala sauce (£3.50), before being set alight with the main courses. Fiery flavours include the methi chicken dressed in a medium fenugreek-based sauce (£14.95) or the lamb dhansak cooked with lentils in a hot sweet and sour sauce (£8.25), while more subdued savouries may come in the shape of the chicken badami pasanda with cashews, pistachios, and fresh cream (£9.95). Whether red-hot or really mild, all meals will be teamed with a steaming bowl of pilau rice (up to £3.95) or a naan bread (up to £3.25) to mop up those last remnants of curry sauce.
