It is common knowledge that before the invention of theatre seats, audiences had to sit on stage avoiding the flinging arms and legs of pirouetting performers. Enjoy a more relaxing spectacle with today’s Groupon: £17.50 for a ticket to see Save the Last Dance For Me at Cambridge Arts Theatre.
About the event
The Cambridge Arts Theatre will be sent back to 1963 with the toe-tapping and skirt-swirling production of Save the Last Dance for Me. Produced by the same sparkling team as Dreamboats and Petticoats, this musical tells the tale of two teenage sisters spending the summer at the seaside and the complicated holiday romance that ensues. Scored by the nostalgic hits of Doc Pomus and Mort Sherman including Save the Last Dance For Me and Little Sister, the musical is directed by West End veterans Bill Kenwright & Keith Strachan.
About the venue
Shining a limelight on dramatic West End whispers
and rib-tickling comedic quips since 1936, Cambridge Arts Theatre stands proudly
as a theatrical centre in the heart of this historical city. Plush seating and
elegant interior furnishings welcome more than 600 audience members for
performances, with critics’ picks and rising local productions earning
themselves pin-drop silences through impressive verbal displays. The centre's
café also silences belly rumbles with light dining and traditional fare, while
opportunities to hire the venue means high-kicking events can be enjoyed in show-stopping
style.

Reviews
Save the Last Dance has been awarded a number of encouraging reviews. Visitors celebrate in particular the quality of music and convincing performances.
There was no short-changing on hits by American musical collaborators Pomus and Shuman, superbly arranged and delivered. An accomplished six-piece band also doubles up on minor acting roles.
