The love of curry among Britain’s foodies is almost equally divided among Patak’s patrons, Uncle Ben’s believers and Sharwoods disciples. Put your differences aside for pitta’s sake and enjoy today’s Groupon: £20 instead of up to £55.60 for a whopping seven-course Indian banquet for two people at the award-nominated Jamuna Indian Restaurant.
Situated in Birchrove, north Cardiff, Jamuna serves up traditional Indian cuisine nightly in contemporary yet easy-going surroundings. A nominee in the ‘Best Restaurant’ category in the 2010 Ethical Good Food Awards, diners are privy to the on-goings of the open plan kitchen, so they can see for themselves the high standards of hygiene that Jamuna’s kitchen staff keep and the care that goes into the preparation of the food, making each meal a special experience. As ravenous guests work their way through the exciting menu, the soft murmur of music in the background provides the perfect ambience for those enjoying an intimate meal, family get-together or a night off from dinner duty. Jamuna is a restaurant for all occasions and all types of diners and children are most welcome any night of the week.
Groupon holders should prepare themselves for an onslaught of authentic cuisine for two, with the choice of starter (£4.95), any main course (£9.45), side dish (£2.45), rice (£2.50), naan (£1.95), dessert and coffee (£6.50) each. Starter options include mixed tikka (£4.95), while the main event section features the Tandoori dinner, with chicken tikka, lamb tikka, and kebabs (£9.45). For something sweet, Mango khulfi (£3.45) may offer some appeasement. Lovers of seafood can upgrade to the fish menu, which features red snapper, king prawns, sea bass and other treats from the ocean, for an additional £5 per head.
Reviews
Jamuna Indian restaurant has impressed customers with its fresh and tasty food, being voted number 29 out of 292 of the best restaurants in Cardiff.
THE sizzling chunks of an entire chicken breast marinaded in herbs and lemon juice whose smell nearly floored your hungry reviewer as he watched them being deftly served, probably sums up Jamuna. This relatively new Bangladeshi-owned diner offers immaculately-cooked curry with a dash of flair. The chunks of chicken were from a shashlick main course that ticked all the boxes. The delicious sheekh kebab, served with a sprinkling of fresh herbs, had been made without the bright red colouring used by nearly all Indian restaurants, and was all the better for it. And all the other dishes were carried off with similar aplomb. The open kitchen, colourful décor and music add to the friendly atmosphere and earn Jamuna a whole-hearted recommendation.

I have been to Jamuna on a few occasions and have never once been disappointed. The staff are incredibly friendly without being over the top and are more than happy to come to the aid people who are new to Indian food. As said in previous review all the food is cooked fresh and it shines through in the taste. You could go to "renowned" Indian restaurants but I guarantee Jamuna will not be beaten!
