Before the outboard motor was invented boating junkets were so sedate that aspiring maritime thrill junkies were just out bored. Take a punt on a highly propelling pursuit with today’s Groupon: £9 instead of £18 for an ultimate powerboat experience with Cardiff Sea Safaris.
Gliding gracefully through never-ending saline peaks and troughs since 2006, Cardiff Sea Safaris is an otter in the world of water-sports. The company prides itself on being the first to tickle customers' RIBs (rigid inflatable boats) with rides in the Cardiff Bay area. Skippers are fully licensed to thrill and with years of experience provide an assured presence in the face of Nessie and friends. Centrally located at Mermaid Quay, landlubbers are just 5 minutes from the railway station with easy access by bus or car. Those with water-bound transport are welcome to park at the pontoon for a dramatic arrival.
Groupon holders will have a one hour blast along the coast and out into the Bristol Channel in either Cobra or Viper; these serpentine speedboats are powered by twin outboards, performing high speed manoeuvres on white-knuckle rides with each craft capable of up to 85mph.
