Mixing up steaks is a major restaurant faus pas, leaving one customer complaining of wooden food, while another fends off vampires with a piece of meat. Avoid culinary dangers with today's Groupon from The Barley Mow. Choose from the following options:
• £23 for a two course steak meal for two (Up to 63% off)• £45 for a two course steak meal for four (Up to 64% off)

A charming affair of exposed brick interiors serving a smorgasbord of hearty grub, The Barley Mow takes the concept of a classic country pub and merges it with host of intriguing new ideas. A daily delivery of fresh edibles is transformed in to a rotating menu of meat, fish, and colourful veggies, while hoards of locally-grown apples, plums, and apricots are crammed into home made jams and chutneys. The Craig Penllyn hideaway also serves up cosily secluded tables for private shindigs, while a beer garden caters for a lunchtime in the sun or a cheeky, chilled-out tipple.
Tables of two or four can get grubbed up with starters including West coast king scallops served with Parma ham (£8.95), and Scottish black pudding topped with home-made onion and quince chutney (£4.95). The main event brings a fillet of Penllyn black beef, cooked to order, accompanied by duck parfait, and drizzled in a port and mushroom jus (£21.95). Alternative dishes include grilled duck breast with a sweet plum sauce and parsnip fries (£16.95).
Reviews
The Barley Mow has received many a fine review, and is rated a full 5/5 stars by TripAdvisors. ViewCardiff also write favourably. Diners commend the quality of the slap-up meals, inviting atmosphere and hospitable personnel.
A very pleasent [sic] fresh atmosphere, tastefully done. The food is superb with unique dishes made freshly from local ingredients. I had the cullen haddock, smoked fish with smooth mash big juicy prawns and a lovley [sic] cream sauce. Hubby opted for the big meat choice, a whole braised shank of pork. It looked impressive on the plate, I assume it was good, but he never left any for me to taste…
