Gently nestled within the village of Tarporley like a baby chick in its nest, The Crown Hotel throws open its doors to those hungering for a bite to eat or flagon of ale to glug. This family run establishment has recently refurbished its interior to breathe fresh life into the building with cosy coal fires, wooden beamed ceilings, and sloshes of cream and lavender paint. The owners have previously worked on the McLaren Formula One Team as race team chefs, and carefully trickle their experience into wholesome freezer-free fresh dishes for the pub menu.
Groupon tongues can tingle with delight as they are introduced to starters of wild mushroom and leek filo tart (£3.95) or chargrilled asparagus with poached egg, parmesan and pancetta (£4.95). Meanwhile main courses include tempting homemade steak burgers (£8.95), traditional beer battered fish with mushy peas, tartar sauce and hand cut chips, as well as a selection of chargrilled fish and meat dishes.

The staff and owners at The Crown are some of the most helpful and hospitable I have come across and I would have no hesitation in staying here again.
