Nestled in the verdant grasslands of Derbyshire’s Amber Valley, Denby Visitor Centre envelopes a working pottery room alongside a restaurant serving up well-crafted fare. The heritage site offers a window into pottery through the ages, hosting myriad tours for locals and tourists alike. Those looking to take a piece of the magic home can drop into the on-site shop to replace tattered dinner services, or select a dainty memento for the sake of posterity.
The one hour experience will begin with a video detailing the rich history of the factory and the traditions behind the treasured pottery. With complimentary cookery demonstrations running twice daily, visitors can take in a masterclass before recouping creative energy with a meal in Bourne's Restaurant, selecting from a mouth-watering array of mains including pork and leek hot pot or chicken breast with brie and watercress.
TripAdvisors award Denby tours a decent 3.5/5 stars. While some guests found the restaurant busy at peak times, reviewers are keen to praise the informative and hands-on nature of the tour.
Weekend visit with Grandchildren. They were treated to a plate decorating session and visit to the factory and then had their plates fired and are still using them at home for meals. A thoroughly enjoyable trip.

We spent a nice morning browsing the well priced second's pottery shop, the gift shops and the well stocked cook shop. Cookery demontrations [sic] were available. The highlight was the very good restaurant. The main meals were excellant [sic] value and very good. The cakes and snacks were good. Will visit again.
