While swing musicians are famed for their communicative abilities, some have known to become confused by the role of the saxophone. Ring up a cultural experience with today's Groupon: £16 for two tickets to Andy Abraham's History of the Big Bands at Buxton Opera House.
About the event
Celebrating the smooth swinging era of Sinatra, Andy Abraham's History of the Big Bands takes audiences on a whirlwind journey through the toe-tapping ballads of dancehalls and ballrooms of yore. A 13 piece orchestra provides a thunderous tribute to the timeless acts of Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller, while Andy's vocals soar over the top in a sleek salute to the crooning creativity of the Rat Pack. Guests will be treated to two stall tickets in the heart of the theatre, well-suited to experiencing the full force of Andy and his band.
About the venue
Built in 1903, Buxton Opera House is a classic example of stately Edwardian theatre design. Grand and imposing on the outside, and ornately regal within, the aesthetic beauty provides a distraction during intervals between shows ranging from orchestra concerts to pantomime. Treated to a series of makeovers following a flirtation with Hollywood in its days as a cinema, Buxton Opera House today exists as a 900 seater venue hosting over 400 performances each year.
Show starts at 7.30pm (Doors open at 7pm)
