Treating wining and dining as sacred in the historical surroundings of Burton Abbey, The Winery have restored this public house to its former grandeur, now accommodating patrons with a centurial wine list and a striking outdoor terrace overlooking the River Trent. 
Entering the venerable confines in hungry pairs or groups of four, diners can enjoy a main course accompanied by either starter or dessert. The former option gives guests the opportunity to enjoy a fresh water crayfish cocktail or crispy breaded goats cheese fritters with salad and chutney. Braised blade of beef bourguignon with red wine jus is available as a main course, while the winery fish pie contains a seafood quartet of haddock, salmon, prawns, and monkfish. The dessert is then served to appease sweet teeth, and choices include white chocolate panacotta, a homemade brandy snap basket and mixed berry Eton mess.

I visited The Winery for a family lunch today. It was excellent not just the food but also the service. Can't wait to go back when the weather warms up so I we can sit in the garden, it looked lovely.
