Contrary to the prevalence of fluffy towels and mini toiletries, mass games of doctors and nurses are now surprisingly rare in the world of hospitality. Look after yourself with today's Groupon: £99 for a two night weekend or a three night weekday stay for two with bubbly and a slice of warm apple cake on arrival, breakfast, fishing and spa passes at Kirkhill Mansion.
An 18th century residence set in 30 acres of wooded gardens, Kirkhill Mansion provides a country retreat just 15 minutes from Edinburgh. With a history involving great personages of the last three centuries, and located near other historical hot spots such as Rosslyn Chapel and Borthwick Castle, this is a rustic retreat that combines antiquated glamour with modern comfort. Guests can wander through the glow of a late autumn sun as it filters through the thinning trees, returning to rooms plump and warm with traditional luxury. Dalhousie Castle Spa is a short walk away, an enclave of tranquillity set within a 13th century fortress.
Having planned either a weekday trip away or a weekend minibreak, guests can celebrate their arrival with a glass of bubbly before tucking into a slice of mariola home baked warm apple cake. Enjoying a full English breakfast on the first morning, lodgers can stoke up before perhaps striding out to fish at the river Esk and the glens beyond. Sinking into the warm embrace of the outdoor hot tub could be a more relaxed way to appreciate the fresh air, and those in search of true relaxation can take advantage of a spa pass at Dalhousie Castle.
Kirkhill Mansion has received largely positive reviews from guests who have been impressed by the welcoming staff and cosy rooms. A score of 5/6 was awarded by Late Rooms users, who further praised the relaxing atmosphere.
Quiet, off the main road. Our room was large & airy. Very comfortable. Ensuite spacious. Breakfast was very nice. Would definitely stay again.[sic]

The setting is peaceful, we enjoyed the walks around the extensive grounds and watching nature at its best. You can relax within the house choosing the games room or the grand hall.
