When practised regularly, yoga can ease muscular aches, improve flexibility, and alleviate fears of pixies in leotards. Pirouette into a sea of tranquillity with today’s Groupon: £35 for ten sessions of hot yoga with Bikram Yoga London - Canary Wharf.
A flagship centre riding the hot yoga wave of profound perspiration, Bikram Yoga London - Canary Wharf is bringing this fast-growing practice to the heart of Canary Wharf. The style combines a series of 26 Hatha asanas (postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises), with a sizzling room temperature of 40°C, creating both a physical challenge and mental mountain to conquer. Students discover their limits and see how resolution, determination and flexibility can open new doors to greater possibilities.
For the first of ten classes clients are asked to turn up 45 minutes in advance with a photo ID to register. After getting settled in, pupils looking to stretch themselves can enjoy an hour and half of systematic muscle manipulation in the heated room. Lessons are suitable for all levels, but the uninitiated are advised to wear lightweight, breathable clothing that isn't too baggy and must bring a bottle of water, yoga mat and two towels (all available for rent or purchase at the studio). Changing and shower facilities are available before and after working up a sweat in the classes and are able to accommodate even the biggest of chakras.
