A wooded remnant of 18th century London, The Dickens Inn is a three tiered landmark on the water’s edge of St Katharine’s Way. The pub, pizzeria and grill offers nautical themed ambience as well as view of Tower Bridge, and has recently taken a stand up as the Friday night venue for the Soho Comedy Club, run by David Mulholland and Kate Smurthwaite. For six years the husband and wife team have been poaching fresh comedic talent from the Edinburgh festival to warm the funny bones of the capital, giving up and comers a leg up as well as springing up circuit regulars and some familiar funny faces.

Exercising their chuckle muscles, giggling teams of two can choose any Friday night to don their sense of humour hats. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start in the rustic function room alongside a cosy audience capacity of only 180. Upcoming giggle stick wavers include the fearless Marcus Birdman and Seattle born Erich McElroy on Friday 4 November, or co-writer of The 11 O'Clock Show Alan Francis and comedy actress Tiffany Stevenson on Friday 11 November. Punters hungry for a laugh can also enjoy a 10% discount on any food and drink from any of the three restaurant spaces at The Dickens Inn all night, indulging in pub burgers or giant pizzas, with a side of ensuing hilarity.

Reviews

Located in St Katherine Docks, a peaceful bubble in the heart of the city, the Dickens Inn has impressed visitors who have enjoyed the relaxing scenery of bridges, boats and water from the terraces and balconies. 25 Google Mappers have awarded the venue an overall rating of 4/5 stars.

Good range of beers, priced OK for London, staff always really polite. Lovely way to waste an afternoon watching the boats.

…my girlfriend and I got a table on the balcony of the Pizzeria with a beautiful view, helped by a lovely warm summer sunset. The service was quick and curteous and the food was delicious and the perfect size. Drinks were served quickly and at a good price. We will definately[sic] be visiting again.
