Music may be the food of love, but the queue at the buffet table suggests it isn't very filling. Feast on food and music with today's Groupon: £19 for two tickets to the Native Tongue Christmas event with buffet, comedy, and music at Native Tongue.
Founded as a platform for emerging comedians, musicians and artists, Native Tongue has evolved into a glorious showcase for entertainment gold, all served up alongside succulent buffet feasts. The team found their new home in a hip central London spot in early 2011, where they regularly host extravaganzas encompassing a full platter of edibles, chuckles, belly laughs, and grooves. The firm acted as the launch pad for the likes of Rufus Hound, Jamie T, and Simon Amstell, demonstrating that the artistic calibre is high and the standards are set for an evening of cabaret quality.
Lighting up the stage three times a week during December, each Christmas event includes a festive buffet, an hour and 20 minutes of live stand-up comedy, a function band, and DJs on the decks until late. Christmas celebrants can sip on a complimentary soft or alcoholic drink on arrival, before tucking into a buffet that may feature foodstuffs such as festive-themed sushi, including Rudolph’s roll with avocado tempura, coconut, and mint, or Santa’s roll with crispy breaded turkey and cranberry sauce. Satisfied stomachs can then keep quiet as top comedy acts come to the stage, followed by a function band playing upbeat tunes until the DJs take their turn.
Reviews
Although there are not many user reviews available for Native Tongue, the venue has featured in the entertainment guide Time Out and has helped launch the careers of various singers and comedians including the likes of KT Tunstall, Jamie T, and Rufus Hound. ViewLondon has awarded the venue 4/5 stars.
The venue has a great atmosphere and the bands I saw were fantastic. The staff were very friendly and the drinks prices are very reasonable for a London establishment. I will definitely be visiting this venue again, and I urge you to do the same.

There’s no hint of attitude on the door and the bar staff are friendly, plus the audience seems to be relaxed - often friends of the bands - and poseur-free, which in this part of town is relatively unusual.
