Evil abusers of the ancient art of Bonsai have been shrinking public amenities, replanting town halls in small pots and cultivating miniature civil servants. Support sustainable pruning with today's Groupon: £20 for two people to spend on authentic Japanese dishes for £8 at Bonsai Japanese Bar Bistro.
This central Edinburgh bar and bistro offers fuss-free great tasting food, served up on simple lacquered platters ideal for sharing, and delicately flavoured with zesty marinades and sauces. The restaurant has been reviewed by a number of its customers who have been impressed by the wide range of dishes on the menu. Qypers gave Bonsai four stars out of five, whilst ViewEdinburgh users were also positive.
Went here for a birthday night out. There were about 25 of us and they coped admirably. Lots of different platters, lots of different taste treats. Often left wanting more when sushi's on the menu but there was so much choice and the plates kept coming I was completely satisfied. Will definitely go again.

I can't believe I have lived in Edinburgh for this long and have never been to Bonsai! I will most certainly be back. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was very fresh, tasty and just the right sized portions. We also tried a few Japanese beers out but the hot sake was definitely a favourite.I would absolutely recommend Bonsai to anyone.
