Welcome to Al Dente, Edinburgh's most authentic Italian restaurant offering original recipe dishes full of flavour and made from local produce. Located in the heart of Easter Road, they welcome clients into their warm and convivial surroundings. It was Escoffier who said that had it been an Italian who codified the world of cuisine then the whole would have thought of cuisine as being inherently Italian. That axiom gathers some momentum at the Al Dente Restaurant where you can experience the intricacies of the mother of all cuisines.

The menu at Al Dente is extensive, traditional and creative. The menu was devised by Graziano Spano who before taking the reins at Al Dente spent a period at Danieli Excelsior, Venice's finest 5 star hotel. Remember, you can choose any starter and any main for the menu and we know it can be difficult to know what to pick. For starters we recommend the Fagottino di melanzane, a deep friend aubergine dish stuffed with tomatoes and mozzarella or Sardina alla Beccafico, a Sicilian style sardine dish with pine nuts, bay leaves and oranges. For mains we recommend either the Calamaro ripeno, or squid stuffed with smoked salmon and peas or Coniglio in porchetta, an oven baked Scottish rabbit dish with Parma ham. Delicious!

The potatoes were particularly tasty and I’d love the recipe. This was served with a full bodied Chianti. How did I cope with all this food, you may ask?
