Run by a team of camera wielders trained to degree-level in photography, Art of Imagination captures key moments in family life and locks up skills through courses that venture into Edinburgh, often under the cover of darkness. Their cosy Duddingston village studio frames shoots, including portraiture, family, and boudoir sessions, while workshops teach keen snappers of a range of abilities to stalk the urban landscape of the city for inspiration. Classes in post-production are also available for those who want to brush up on airbrushing, including sessions on studio photography and Adobe Photoshop.
In the darkened dips and swoops of Edinburgh, a band of intrepid student photographers will venture out with two professional snappers. Under the city’s twinkling nightlights, the group will walk from Calton Hill, capturing shadows cast by its iconic monuments, while exploring ambient and moving light, exposure, composition and flash use. Learners can delight in the serenity of the Princess Street Gardens and the lively Rose Street, framing differing views of the castle on the skyline along the way before turning to the historic streets of the Royal Mile.
