While cameras never lie, it’s worth remembering that in the early days of cinema, they couldn’t talk at all. Leave cine-speechless with today’s Groupon: £8 for two adult tickets for Dominion Cinema.
A traditional, boutique movie theatre that first rolled out the red carpet in the black and white 1930s, the Dominion Cinema is as suffused with history as with the scent of fresh popcorn. Expanded and renovated for high definition luxury, yet twinkling with the charm of a listed building, the theatre offers private party premiers in a screen with its own bar, as well as special cinema club membership.
A pair of silver-screen stalwarts can return to the golden age of cinema in one of two ambient movie theatre auditoriums. Any film showing on these screens is available for viewing pleasure, from newly released spine-shiverers such as The Woman in Black, to award-winning celebrations of silent film such as the Academy Award-winning The Artist. Especial luxury is the bottom line in Gold Screen 2, with sofa and electronic style seats available.
Reviews
While Qype’s film-fanatics rate Dominion a favourable 4/5 stars, cinephile Yelpers award 4.5/5. Reviewers appreciate the cinema’s welcoming atmosphere, character and friendly personnel.
Fab vintage cinema. Where else can you sit on a comfy sofa put your feet up and watch a movie, eat popcorn and have a drink other than in your home? Fantastic place wish more cinemas were like this one. [sic]

Not far from the city centre, in the Morningside area, its not far to come and have a much more interesting evening than you might have at a chain cinema. The prices are a little dearer but not by much. The building itself is worth seeing. It has a fantastic art-deco facade and an attractive interior. There are two large screens and two small screens. The biggest is huge but the smallest is, unfortunately, a little too small… A great independent cinema with a nostalgic aesthetic. Recomended! [sic]
