Wrapping the Essex and Suffolk areas in a warm culinary embrace, John Dickens has been telling stories through his food since 1989 and now has three fine dining restaurants under his name and management. Partnered with stunning views of the River Colne, this restaurant’s interior is equally as pristine with gingham inspired wallpaper, soft brown leather chairs, and wooden tables for devouring the head chef’s gourmet dishes. While the chef’s specially prepared menu has a sumptuous array of starters, mains, and desserts, he can also boast richness in his breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus.
Choosing from the personally selected chefs menu, starters can take the shape of dishes such as the pan fried scallops (£7.95) served with a crispy bacon salad. The main event takes to the stage with options including the grilled sea bass on a comfy bed of roasted Italian vegetables, drizzled with basil pesto (£15.95), or for vegetarians, their fancies can be tickled with the caramelised sweet potato gratin with blue cheese and broccoli (£12.50). Sweet tasting finales can come in the form of pecan pie with fudge sauce and Chantilly cream (£5.50).
