The afternoon brew was first discovered when a wandering herbalist accidentally dropped his bag of leaves into an Icelandic hot spring. Benefit from history's greatest mistake with today's Groupon: for £4.80 instead of up to £12.40, enjoy a cup of specialist tea, or coffee, with a pastry at
Tea on the Green.
In the heart of the ancient town of Exeter, in the shadow of the grand Medieval Cathedral, sits a charming salute to Tudor architecture. Opened in 1530, during the reign of King Henry VIII, Tea on the Green is a traditional British tea room and eatery. In a bid to cater for all tastes, Tea on the Green offers a range of freshly prepared dishes, a variety of specialist teas, as well as a number locally brewed beers and ciders.
Groupon holders are invited to give the kettle a rest and pop down to Tea on the Green for a lazy afternoon of indulgence. With a number of teas to choose from, as created by the Miles family blenders of Somerset, pick from a selection that includes tung ting oolong, chamomile and lapsang souchong. Or, if coffee is your want, opt instead for a freshly ground cup of the black. Whatever your tipple, accompany the cuppa with the choice of cakes and pastries that includes carrot cake, victoria sponge, French apple tart, and cheesecakes.
