A volunteer-run site with a collection of over 30,000 items, Fire and Police Museum has celebrated the Steel City's emergency services for three decades. A range of fire engines, police cars and bikes spans from historic carriages to present day models. Educational exhibits teach youngsters about safety in an interactive nature alongside an array of artefacts. Seasonally-themed events and parties are a regular feature where visitors may even become acquainted with mascots such as chipper smoke alarm Bleeper. Fire engine rides take place on Sundays, and off-site rides can also be arranged, while vehicle hire covers weddings and other events.
