About Chiropody/Podiatry
Chiropodists, also known as podiatrists, are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat abnormal conditions of the lower leg and foot area. Whether a dermatological problem, chronic disorder, or anomaly in anatomical structure, podiatrists aim to treat these complaints using orthotic devices, minor surgery under local anaesthetic, or the simple application of skin cream. Keeping themselves on their toes, patients from all walks of life can also turn or pirouette towards practitioners of chiropody for advice on proper foot and nail care.

Groupon Asks

Helping clients to walk on sunshine, The Hampden Foot Clinic is a chiropody and podiatry centre based in Mount Florida. Groupon finds out more about the clinic, and what visitors can expect.

G: What happens during a typical chiropody appointment?
Nails are trimmed, hard skin is removed and feet are moisturised. Various discomforts, such as corns and calluses, thickened or fungal nails, verrucas or ingrowing toenails, may also be treated in a gentle way.

G: What are the benefits of the foot massage?
The practitioners use a moisturising foot salve to help hydrate dry skin. Nails will also be treated with a blend of grape seed, tea tree and lemon oil.

G: Does the centre offer any unique or specialist treatments?
The biomechanical assessment - It looks at posture, foot and leg function, and the alignment and movement of joints. Once the information is processed clients receive a recommendation for a personalised pair of orthotic shoe insoles, which can be ordered.
