The Hotel
Traditional luxury flows through this hotel's halls, from the high ceilinged bedrooms to the tranquil bar and lounge where guests sink into sofas beside a roaring log fire. Fine dining dishes are served in the restaurant, with local beef, lamb, seafood and veg presented artfully on plates. The exterior of this hotel is an ivy-clad amalgamation of historic buildings, the distinctive styles attesting the time period of each wing. Sprawling grounds feature beautifully sculpted gardens as well as mature woodlands which make for a stunning wedding location.

Groupon Recommends
The historic Threave Castle sits afloat in the River Dee and is the former home of the Black Earls of Douglas, travel to its shores and awe at the ancient masonry. The streets of Castle Douglas are paved with independent, trinket-bearing shops, trendy galleries and cafes serving bohemian brews. Journeying to Galloway Forest Park is recommended, with the foliage filled hills beginning around a 30 minute drive from the hotel and sprawling for 300 square miles of jaw dropping streams, forests, lochs and fairy tale waterfalls.
