Having had photos printed in The Sunday Telegraph, Metro, The Guardian, and on the BBC website, trans-Atlantic clicker James Christie now shares his snappy know-how with photographers of all levels, from beginner to experienced, at his photography school in Edinburgh. Taking a dynamic approach to teaching people the tricks of the clicks with walking tours of the city, the school combines a practical lesson with a splash of history thrown in.

Lessons will take place over a four hour walking tour, so pupils can practice their new skills as they walk about the city, shooting sly ones of Scott Monument, a Princes Street panorama or a blinder of one of the bridges. In addition, customers will take home a 12"x8" fully edited print of their favourite image.

Demonstrating the key elements of composition and camera settings, the crash course covers the following:

Introduction to photography
Different types of photography
Lenses: types of lenses, correct lens for location and surroundings and why
Lighting: different sources, measure of light, exposition, still lights, and flash
Film versus digital
ISO sensitivity and white balance
Photography composition, framing, the rule of thirds, and golden section

Reviews

Edinburgh Photography Tours received a picture perfect 5/5 stars on TripAdvisor, making it the number one tour in Scotland. Participants praised the informative and engaging tour.

The tour combines excellent tuition in photography, with fascinating historical facts about Edinburgh, and also manages to allow you to see the city from a different perspective. As someone who lives in Edinburgh, I was ashamed to say 'I didn't know that' on many occasions. From a photography point of view I am now taking much better photos, so much so, that I wish I had had a course like this 25 years ago when I bought my first SLR.

James is a very knowledgable [sic], well spoken guide/instructor who runs a very interesting tour. Having little knowledge of Edinburgh and even less knowledge of ISOs, aperture and shutter speed this tour was perfect for me. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with an interest in photography, you will definitely take better photos afterwards!
