A 1100 square metre course of knobbly walls and bold boulders is up for grabs at The Climbing Academy Glasgow, where all ages and abilities are welcomed with a challenging range of indoor activities. Brightly coloured hand-grips line the angular walls of the Portman Street terrain, where experienced enthusiasts and beginning novices alike take gripping workshops into their own hands. Straddling outcroppings under the watchful eye of instructors, gaggles of giggling party-goers fill the climbing centre for aerobic fun.
Climbing couples will suit and boot up their pair of hired shoes during the 75 minute induction, helmed by one of the Academy’s instructors. After learning the basics of the unharnessed climbing sport, nimble fingers and well-placed feet can scale the wall as fully trained members of the Academy. Customers can scamper across the climbing surface, and then stop to refuel with a hearty homemade pizza and cake before returning to the wall for another go.
