Rising out of the city's Waterfront area in a flurry of gastronomic know-how, Yen Oriental Restaurant fuses the culinary traditions of Japan, China and Thailand into a single dining experience. The establishment brings live culinary skills and traditional Japanese cooking style to the fore, while the other two countries are duly represented with authentic recipes. Located in the renovated North Rotunda, Yen hosts diners in an expansive setting on the dock of the Waterfront.

Diners can get things off to a cooperative start by diving into an Oriental mixed starter platter to share (£6.95 per person) before criss-crossing Asia on a culinary exploration of choice. Mains from the Japanese menu include tempura udon (£12.95), while Cantonese offerings include shredded crispy beef (£10.95), with Thai treats including mixed vegetable and aubergine curry (£10.95).

The menu allows you to combine any of the three cuisines, they are not very expensive and the food is delicious. Service was good even though they were very busy and the decor and views of the river etc were wonderful. It was a lovely dining experience.
