An 18-hole golf course stretches across its gardens, while indoor sporting fun is on offer in the gymnasium and yoga spaces. An indoor heated pool also makes a splash among the leisure facilities with the solarium and saunas turning up the heat. The Havelock Restaurant is poised to satiate worked-up appetites and a sparkling array of cocktails colour the menu in Captain Cook’s Bar.
With Darlington itself famous as the location of one of the world’s first passenger railways, chug along to the Shildon Railway Museum to discover the story of steam on the dales. Go west into the North Pennines and walk through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the High Force Waterfall. A sight for sore eyes, the waterfall plunges 29 metres with its mist catching the rainbow on sunny days. The Blackwell Grange Hotel received 3.5/5 courtesy of TripAdvisors. While opinions varied on the décor and housekeeping at times, guests complimented the staff, food and the hotel’s location.
The grounds and the local walks took you away from the rat race and allowed you to relax, the hotel itself, yes the decor could do with updating but nothng [sic] detracts from the overall warmth of the place.

The dining area was well laid out and it was a treat to have a round table so we could speak to people. The food was well cooked, plentiful and we enjoyed both the dinner and breakfast.
