Carved into the heart of Cappadocia, The Buket Cave Hotel casts an eye over the lunar-like landscape and hidden dwellings that make this historic Turkish province of Central Anatolia so unique. The ancient Nevşehir region’s naturally-formed “fairy chimneys” twist and turn their way down into the volcanic valleys, concealing the underground towns and villages left behind from centuries gone up. Taking to the skies, hot air balloons float like candy-coloured clouds over Cappadocia’s Byzantine chapels, ancient, Roman fortresses, and covered Ottoman bazaars.

The Hotel
Laid out against the breathtaking landscape of Göreme National Park, Buket Cave Hotel is partly carved into rocks, but takes pride of place atop a hill overlooking the valleys of Cappodocia. The establishment is a mirror-image of the landscape unique to the region, while its cave-like chambers are embellished with traditional Turkish carpets, carved wooden furnishings, and low, swooping ceilings. Bringing a real taste of the Mediterranean to its traveller’s palates, The Cave Restaurant rouses the senses with classic Turkish cuisine, to be enjoyed by the warmth of the open fireplace or al fresco on the outdoor terrace.
Groupon Recommends
Take in the natural beauty of Anatolia by making the 10-minute drive into Göreme National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is encrusted with the strange “fairy chimney” rock formations that litter Cappadocia, as well as eroded, volcanic valleys, and underground towns dating back to the 4th century. For adventures further afield, drive down to the Göreme Open-Air Museum, and follow the cobbled pathway up to the Aziz Basil Şapeli (St. Basil’s Chapel), Elmalı Kilise (Apple Church), and Azize Barbara Şapeli (Chapel of St. Barbara), before making your way through the sacred sanctuary of Karanlık Kilise (Dark Church), one of the most famous churches in Turkey.

Reviews
TripAdvisors award Buket Cave Hotel a fine 4/5 stars. While opinions on décor vary, reviewers are keen to praise the comfortable rooms, welcoming and attentive personnel, and calm atmosphere.
It was family run and the staff were all very welcoming and helpful. They organized airport pick-up/drop-off, recommended walking tours, and helped us book a tour of the underground cities. The cave rooms are very cool... carved out of a mountain. And because they're carved out of rock, they're quiet … Everything was clean and well tended … We only had a few nights, but could have easily spent twice as long hiking and exploring if we had the time.
