The Hotel
Oozing the signature style that the Hilton group pride themselves on, this five star retreat soaks up the Egyptian sun on the banks of the Nile. A visit to the Valley of the Kings, or Biban el-Moluk, is a must. This vast archaeological site sits in the hills immediately behind the West Bank and is reachable in around a 30-minute drive from the hotel. The excavation has uncovered the burial place of the most of the Egyptian Pharaohs, with the tomb of Tutankhamun one of the most famous. Staying on the East Bank, get another archeological fix at the Karnak and Luxor temples with their sacred pools and statues, all within a short drive or a sturdy walk from the hotel. Go to the El Souk market areas to brush up on your bargaining technique, or simply indulge in the selection of cafes, bars, restaurants in the vibrant streets.

We stayed here for a couple of days before joining a Nile cruise. The room was a good size and well furnished, although all of the rooms seem to only have narrow windows. It was very relaxing to watch black and white kingfishers on the Nile from the nice warm infinity pool. Service was always good and attentive, without being overbearing.
