The Hotel
A four star establishment with a white gabled façade and sleepy canal-side location, the Golden Tulip Hotel De' Medici offers a comfortable retreat close to the city centre. There are two restaurants, offering guests a choice of fresh Japanese teppanyaki cuisine from grill tables, or classic Italian grub, while American buffet breakfasts are taken in the Aigle Belgica. Tired sightseers can drop into the soothing bubbles of a hot tub, before perhaps strolling out into town to see the city unwind in the evenings.

Take a roughly ten minute walk to the main market square, which is dominated by the 12th century belfry and the provincial court, which was re-built in neo-gothic style to command an imposing presence at the city's heart. For a romantic view of the city, take a horse-drawn carriage through the streets or drop into a canal boat tour for a more streamline pace. Some of the main museums are located on the Dijver, with fine collections of early Flemish art at the Groeninge, or Middle Age literature at the Museum Library.

Transport
Eurostar: Eurostar travel is included, with trains leaving from St. Pancras. Trains run to Brussels Midi, with a local connection for the final 45 minutes to Bruges. Connections run approximately every 30 minutes.
Train station: Bruge train station is roughly 2.5 kilometres from the hotel.
Top Tip
If staying at the weekend be sure to head to the pop-up flea markets which line The Dijver, and are a great place to pick up an usual bargain.

Ideally located about 10 min walk from main square in Bruges. Reasonable room and good breakfast made this a suitable base from which to explore Bruges.
