Resting between the valley climbs and hotchpotch houses of a former industrial town, the Soar Chapel Guest House offers a chic sanctuary amid the mountainous wilds, sleepy villages, and cultural hotspots of the Brecon Beacons.

The Hotel
Dating back to 1851, this converted chapel offsets its historic character with a trove of modern four star facilities and a warmly laidback ambience. The Soar Chapel Guest House cultivates earthy appetites with rustic Welsh cuisine at its homely restaurant, where locally sourced produce is expertly employed wherever possible.
Groupon Recommends
Dig up some historical gems with a 15-minute pootle to the Big Pit National Coal Museum, where the operational workings of a former mine provide hands-on insights into local heritage. Move from this subterranean museum to more altitudinous attractions and hop aboard the Brecon Mountain Railway, which offers a unique view of the evergreen vistas from within the observation coaches of a restored vintage locomotive. For similarly scenic treats, take an amble through the heather-patched meadows of the Silent Valley Nature Reserve, and snap up some photos of the Green Woodpeckers, Pied Flycatchers, and skittish Redstarts which populate this rich wetland.
The Stay
- Double or twin room with en suite, television, DVD player, and Wi-Fi
- Welsh breakfast of bacon, eggs, sausages, beans, mushrooms, black pudding, and fresh tomato each morning
- Tray of Welsh cakes each day
- Evening dinner available for an extra cost
- One extra guest may stay for an extra cost

The woods of the Brecon Beacons are renowned as a prime area for mushroom-picking, but fungi-hunters should be sure to take a reliable guide to help avoid harmful toadstools.
Reviews
The Soar Chapel Guest House was awarded 4.5/5 stars on TripAdvisor.
Rooms are beautiful & stylish and the whole design of the house is like if someone has really put his/her soul into this place. For the breakfast I've chosen pancakes with yoghurt & honey & vanilla: seems to be so simple, but was also sooo delicious!

The building and the rooms themselves have been converted beautifully and the owners provided us with a lovely warm welcome. We would recommend it to anyone.
