First making waves in 1577, the Golden Hinde tested unchartered waters under the guidance of legendary explorer Sir Francis Drake, earning them both fame and fortune for holding steady while circumnavigating the globe. Constructed in 1973, the modern replica of the vessel has itself sailed around the world and notched up a total of more than 140,000 miles, while its historical accuracy and attention to detail have seen it cast in various feature films. The ship is currently docked proudly on London’s South Bank, taking residence alongside the Globe Theatre and the sumptuous aromas of Borough Market.
